Hop Dad

I’m an average guy with an average place in the world. I came to fatherhood later in life than most dads and that’s a very good thing. Had I become a father at 25 I probably would have exploded from the stress.

Why Hop Dad?

I wanted to make a journal about two things that energize me: home brewing and being a dad. It will be a place for me to put forth my ideas, techniques, and lessons learned; a place to be creative, to vent, and ask for help. It can also serve as a resource for others to draw upon.

When I learned I was about to become a parent I immediately jumped online to look for resources just for Dads. I was sorely disappointed. Gender politics aside, there is a significant lack of resources for fathers. This journal is my attempt to contribute to the pool of knowledge for Dads everywhere.

As for the brewing, it just makes me happy and I want to share my hobby with others. Brewing is an act of creativity that requires me to be patient, consistent, and pay attention to details. Yet often I am forced to take a chance and just hope for the best. That’s like fatherhood, too.

Brewing beer can be a great stress reliever and every dad needs a place where he can be at peace. So, here we go. Relax, Dad, and have a pint. It’s time to put the kettle on!

    Hey Hop Dad!

Average? Average has nothing to do with it. All struggles are relative to ourselves. One hop person’s epic is another hop mom’s trivial. In the word of Vonnegut, ‘so it goes.’ Welcome to the Interwebs. 🙂
